Stampin’ Up! Convention 2010

Wow what an awesome weekend at my very first convention! After a quite interesting Thursday night when the fire alarm went off twice at our hotel, the convention was a wonderful change of scenery. The buzz of all the women (and a few men) was just awesome. As it was my first convention I didn’t know anyone there, other then seeing a few demonstrators on various websites and facebook. Everyone was just lovely and inviting, I had no problem making some wonderful new friends there.

When we arrived at the Sydney Convention Centre, we checked in and received our goody bag. We received a beautiful bag, two stamp sets, a cap, pen and our name tag and a few other things for our make and take projects. We had the opportunity to visit momento mall and take pictures of displays set up around the foyer.

The morning started with a General Session kicked off with the gorgeous Shelli. She is such a wonderful person. So caring and loving and she made each and every one of us feel at home and appreciated. We got to hear her story of how Stampin’ Up! was born. She is such an inspirational speaker.

Following a very uplifting and informative morning, we were spoiled with a huge lunch, seriously there was so much food!! After lunch we were divided into 4 groups. I was lucky enough to be in the make and take session. I met some more wonderful people and had fun getting into some projects and stamping. I was amazed at how organised everything was, and how fluent the day ran.

After a wonderful first day I couldn’t wait for the Saturday Session. The morning was broken into 3 parts with smaller groups of us. We again had the pleasure of listening to our fellow demonstrators tell us their story. After lunch it was our last general session. We then had a few hours to spare before the awards dinner.

When we returned to the convention centre for dinner, wow, what a gorgeous sight. The room was candle lit, with a band playing. The red carpet was laid out and set up for photos with the Stampin’ Up! backdrop. It was such a fun night. So many women where congratulated and rewarded for their successes. Dinner was an absolute feast for the senses, the food was to die for!!!

It was sad to leave, I had met some wonderful new people, but I was also glad to be going home to my two little munchkins, who of course where more interested in the pressies I’d bought back for them.
